US Backups on a Pal Dreamcast

Hi,
Sorry for the stupid question but as im a newbie ill ask anyway, if i want to play a backup copy of a us or jap game on a PAL(european) DC do i have to change anything? Or do i have to have a chip installed like with my old psx?

well if its a self booter..it will work on any region machine! just slap it in and you'll see. otherwise, if its non-bootable, use utopia bootcd to start it up
