Hello all

I want to make a back-up cd for the first time (game Rome: TW) which can work independiatly on my other computer. I read the FAQ on gamecopyworld and some other sites on how to do this and followed every advise i could find but i am still unable to make a image of the first CD.

I've done the following steps:

* Checked if my CDReader/burner can do this RAW thing.
* Purchased Alcohol 120% (and CloneCD)
* Found out what protection is on the Cd (securerom 3)
* Put in the correct settings (i think) in the copy disc screen with Alcohol)

And then at 0,4% reading, Alcohol gives my only read-errors.

Clone CD has the same problem: stops at 0,4& and gives me read-errors. On top of that: i cant change any advanced settings with CLoneCD.

I am pretty sure the problems lies in the settings. Does any of you know a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance

But aren't these read errors intentional and part of the copy protection?! The "How to make a SafeDisc mini-image" on CDFreaks also mentions that you should be expecting read errors...

@Double_dutch
* Found out what protection is on the Cd (securerom 3)
Rome Total War is protected with 'Safedisc 4' not Securom 3!
So yes, as Joe says, the 'Read Errors' are normal and quite ok!
Read the disc, using alcohol 120%, choose the Safedisc 2/3 setting (there is no Safedisc 4 setting but this is ok).
The disc will start to read and you will get read errors for the first 4-6%. It will also read really slow! After it passes the read errors Alcohol will speed up again. The whole read should take between 12-20 minutes.
This also depends on what type of burner you are using? Not all burners are capable of copying a Safedisc protected game!

My burner is a Philips 8701 and it can do this RAW thing. I tried to read it with the safedisk 2/3 option but it stopped reading at 0,4% and only gave me read errors. I actually ran it for a couple a of hours but it didnt get any further than 6% or so. The only thing i got was a rather large list of read errors.

Does any of you have another suggestion? Perhaps another setting?

Thanks in advance

Ok, its like talking 'Double Dutch' to some people! :p
1. When copying a Safedisc protected disc you will get 'read errors'. This is normal!! Do not be worried about the read errors!
2. The read errors may even go up to 6% of the reading! This is quite possible!
3. The fact that it is taking a few hours, well this is NOT normal and does not sound right!?

What to do:
1. Establish if your burner is a one sheep or two sheep burner? (If you have no idea what I am talking about then just go here (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101608) to find out more and to do the 'sheep test' on your burner!)

2. Here are two links you should have a read of!
1. Philips DVD8701 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=164934)
2. Philips 8701 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=164612&highlight=8701)

Those two links will give you some info on others who are also having trouble with the same burner as yours. They will also give you suggestions on how to fix it.

Good Luck
