View Full Version : Coverting Selfboot to non-selfboot
does anyone know how to convert selfboot games back to nonselfboot?
i have some games that only run in 50hz and as the patchers dont detect it and theres no patches available for these games i was going to make non selfboot discs and run them with the the 60hz version of utopia, then they'll run in 60hz. but so far i havent succeeded to make them non-selfboot, they start to load at get to 96% freezes for 10 secs, and the dc resets
something of note, all the games that won't convert to 60hz are winCE based games, with the filename 0WINCEOS.BIN instead of the usual 1st_Read.bin
i tried also to use bincon.exe which converts 0WINCEOS.BIN to 1st_Read.bin for use with utopia, but no luck with it, just the freezing on 96%. The only games i cant '60hz-ize' are:-
- Sno-Cross Championship
- Armada
- Super Runabout
- Bang Gunship Elite
and they are all wince games
any help would be warmly received

It won't work. All the 60 Hz version does is look for the standard region code and patch it in memory on the fly. If you can't patch it, neither can Utopia.
nonsense
there is a special version of utopia that runs in 60hz and if the game doesnt switch the console back 50hz it stays in 60hz.
granted what you said would be the case if there was some 50hz code and im running it on an ntsc console then of course utopia would be of no help. but this isnt the case, my console is 50hz pal and the game just has no code to switch my console to 60hz
whether you agree im not really interested in, as my query is to make wince games non selfboot in utopia, and thats all i want some help with, not your opinion on whether the game will run in 50 or 60hz or not

You're really, really stupid (and not just because you're here asking how to make your warez work, which is against forum rules).
The patching code is designed to AVOID it switching to 50 Hz. This would make the Utopia 60 Hz version USELESS if it didn't actually interpret and patch.
WinCE games will always switch to 50 Hz if they find a PAL console.

it would be really nice if someone can find a 60hz patch for wince games, i have to play all the nice games in 50hz :(
also i still think its strange that we still dont have working cdda with wince games (sega rally 2, bust-a-move-4, kiss psycho circus, no 60hz on all games (ooga booga and more...), no rgb patch for all games (nba2 and nfl2k refuse to work with a scart cable). And no bleemcast rip
calling someone really really stupid and then repeating what you already typed isn't really helpful or positive in this forum

Bust A Move 4 & Kiss Psycho Circus have working CDDA...
SR2 doesn't, and I can't see why...

Yes it works, but it just plays the 1st music track over and over, and this gets very annoying :(
Could you please check your backup Megalexxx to see if it plays every music track?
When I put the disc in my CD-player I can listen to every track so the music is on the CD, it just doesnt play :(

I'm 98% sure they both play all tracks...
