For all those searching for the MAX3222CPN IC it can be ordered FOR FREE by maxim, but only if you live in North America. Call them at 18006595909 and then ask to be transferred to the samples department. from there give them the part number (max3222cpn) and ask them for one or two samples for a science project for personal use. They will mail it to you free of charge. Hope that helped some of the frustrated people trying to find the maxim part... good luck on ur cable.
