I recently use the Starforce Nightmare, and I believe I disable the wrong setting, and a blue screen had popped up saying it was doing a physical memory dump. After rebooting, my sound had stopped working, there isn't the windows mixer in the system tray, and the drivers show but wont load. When trying to play a sound file in WMP it says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

I assume reformatting my solve this, but if someone has an alternative, that would be great. I have alot of important data that id rather keep.

well removing the sound card from the control panel->system->device manager, then telling it to redetect might reinstall the drivers and sort it out... its at your own risk tho, make a restore point or a backup before u do it

I tried that already, was the first thing I done. I even uninstalled the sound card I hard and tried using my onboard sound. Nothing... The drivers show to be working dandy, but the mixer is not loading, and the sound configuration in control panel shows that there is no device at all. Im thinking maybe I disabled the wrong setting in SFN and it hadn't been enabled yet? I tried to go back and retrace my footsteps but still nothing...

I like the sound of that "dandy"

I dont think SFN can change your sound card setting or driver, can it?

Hmm, not much help here am I? maybe your sound card not so working dandy no more:)

well who knows what happened, I sure don't... I guess it may be time to reformat :( Which is always fun... Thanks for the dandy advice :D
If anyone knows where I can upload and store files online free, (a large amount) Let me know, otherwise I need to get my boys laptop over here.

It seems there is no Windows multimedia controller mixer installed. I removed it from my device manager, but now there is no driver at all to be reinstalled, and I looked everywhere on the net. I really don't want to go through the process of reformatting, so if anyone has a clue on where I can get the Windows mixer, it could help me a bunch!!

Did you try chucking it in another PCI slot?
