With this patch your regular Need for Speed Most Wanted version becomes the Need for Speed Most Wanted Black Edition with 10 further bonus cars and many extras.

I'm just curious... isn't that at least a little bit 'warez-ish' aswell? I mean here you get a patch (probably containing original content) that grants you access to something you haven't paid for...

Hmmm, I dont think so. Think of it as a 'mod' for another game. After all you are only adding some extra contents to the game and it still wont be the same as the true Black Edition Version anyway, as you still wont have the 'extra' DVD that comes with the Black Edition. ;)
Not really its same as you modding a gpu to a higher model, just goes to show manu's screw us.
Im still 99.9% certain the 2 version are same apart from the dvd has extra movies ans bening scenes, there was never any mention of extra 10 cars only 2 cars, 1 being a tricked out BMW and the other a American custom car, im sick of all rumours, i for one bought mines on 17th not waited to 25th for black edition crap dvd extra.
Ok, ive tried this, obv i backed up my orignal file before i replaced it with this, i see no differnence on any screen loading game, still says 1.2, i however will later goto the menu option where you add cars to your garage and count the cars before and after patch.
The Back Edition info prelaunch claimed 2 extra cars, this seems to claim 10 extra cars.
Anyone else input their findings please !.
Just to clear things up.
If this "patch" is using protected files from the BW edition to upgrade the Basic edition, then yes it is very illegal.
Why would a developer/publisher allow someone to make a patching system so people who bought the cheaper game make it into the expensive one.
And no this type of patching isnt modding if its original files being used.

Again its the users been screwed by manu's IMO, if you cant add any info about if there really is any difference after this patch then BUTT out please and dont try some moral highground with me, if someone buys a game there are free to do what they like to the contents of the cd, the person actually distibuting the code is legally in the wrong but not the ones grabbing it.
EA know peeps wanted the game on the 17th then some will again buy the other edition on 25th, making them more cash.
Thanks to other user for info, i do have the legit 17th normal version and i did have that file already, but no clue if both are same.
So a 945kb file can do all that, seems to me it was there all along therefore you've already paid for it.
Anyone add extra cars to Midtown Madness 2, or other Need For Speed games?
If so was this illegal, is it illegal to play Desert Combat even if you bought BF1942?

Yeah, you can add as many cars to your NFS as you please. You can add more guns to your Quake, you can add skins to your Sims, You can add whatever you like to any game. But in this case, it's not cars made by someone from the community. It's original content made by the devs and NOT intended for use with the standard retail but only with the black edition. See? There's a big difference. These bonus contents are not public domain. Yet, you gain access to them through this patch! Okay, if it just takes a 900kb file to unlock all the stuff, there's likely to be not much of a difference between the standard and black edition, and the devs could have protected their bonus stuff better. But that still doesn't make this patch legal.

But before you yourself go onto a moral high ground, consider this, re-read what I said and not what you thought I said, I was adding to a statement already said.
At no time did I say the file on offer was from the original or not, I said if it is then its illegal.
Again take your own advice.

To futher add, you said your not in the wrong, you can do what you want? Your wrong, even when I make trainers im technically setting myself up for prosecution as im amending code.
What you fail to realise is, if its a standard home made mod then thats fine as that does not alter any game code (i.e. the original game code that you bought with the game).
Now if the file you get is infact an original file from the BW edition, I dont know if it is or not, then you are amending code even if your overwriting a file or not, the games code your purchased the right to play is infact now changed and against EULA that you agreed to and various other laws etc.
As I said if it's there you've paid for it, whether or not it takes a patch to unlock it. I'd put money on the developers releasing something similar once enough had bought the 'Black Edition'.
Using a NoCD/DVD exe/image is also not as intended, but seems like some pick and choose to their own ends what's right and what's wrong.

Because there's a difference. If you use a NOCD and haven't bought the game, then go **** yourself! Same for black edition: if you haven't bought black edition but play it, go **** yourself, too! I mean a NOCD should not be regarded a way to play something you didn't pay for.
But hey, I forgot about the difference. People who bought a game might still find a NOCD useful, while owners of the original black edition don't have any use for a patch like this. So again, to me there's absolutely no reasonable explanation for this. This patch is something to turn the cheaper version into the more expensive one.

You seem to have overlooked the fact, bought or not, you are still not supposed to play without the 'ORIGINAL' disk.
In the eyes of the software industry, GCW/FileForums = warez.....like it or not!!

Well, practically, I'm not bitching, because the stars are not the result of censorship in this forum, but I made them myself ;)
You know, of course I'm not supposed to play without my disk. But as I said, call it warez or not, a NOCD crack is useful for legit customers, too. I mean by putting it like "GCW/FileForums = warez" , we're getting closer to the whole "prohibit knives, cause they could kill" thing. Of course I am aware that a lot of people consider fileforums a place for warez kiddies, but the difference between that and this patch is that I don't! I don't consider this place a melting pot of software pirates.
You know, from time to time you come across a posting or two where you think like "there's something wrong about this", but in the end I know that I'm not here because I want to play games I haven't paid for, so probably there are a lot of people like me...
Now, the difference to me is that this patch for example is nothing BUT a pirate patch. There's no way you could use it for anything else but to play something you are not allowed to play. Of course, I'm here, so in the eyes of sofware industry, I'm a pirate. But I'm not a pirate for myself, I pay for what I want to play, even if I use NOCD cracks. You know, that way I can justify NOCD cracks for myself, but I cannot justify this patch. That's it!
Edit: and no, I did not buy the black edition of NFSMW nor any other edition, and I'm not gonna buy any edition at all. If wanted to play NFSMW, I would of course buy it. If I wanted to have those 10 bonus cars, I would prefer the black edition.
I havent checked yet, but anyone know the price difference between the Basic and BW versions of the game?

I Just rang EB games (Electronic Boutique) and the main differences between the Black Edition compared to the normal Edition are:
Black Edition: comes with 2 extra cars and an extra DVD with comments, making of etc. Cost $79.00 AU ($58.20 US) ($33.80 UK) ($49.44 EUR)
Normal Edition: Obvioulsy doesnt have the extra cars or extra DVD. Cost $69.00 AU ($50.80 US) ($29.50 UK) ($43.20 EUR)
So this so called patch you are all discussing can not possibly be from the original Black Edition Version as the mentioned patch says '10' extra cars?
Therefore it must be some sort of Mod which is not even available to the Black Edition purchasers. ;)

Paying extra for a useless DVD, a soundtrack(which BTW I hate in game music) and oh yeah a couple of cars for your dosh.
This is why I believe the patch is a good thing, otherwise you have to be either rich or a bit loopy to pay extra for something you already got....allegidly.

the black edition is only getting released in certain countrys i bought be in uk and the normal version is not available so it might be diff for other countrys to
and the extras u get
you get 17 extra cars cos you get the 15 cars from the black list to race in quickrace mode and a 67 camaro and the bmw street car not the gtr and in chellange mod there is a special 1 for black edition where u cop metre goes up to x7 and u have 2 use the camaro thats all it does basicaly
and whats the point in buying 2 copys of somthing just to get some extra cars that u allready own

You can even download good saves.
I have some really nice cars by just loading them into my Most Wanted folder.
If you want some cars let me know. You can't specify what you want but if you want some fast cars for online play to keep up with the other racers.
By the New Year all cars online to beat will all have top performance.

really? i find that some do actually have coherant storylines. MW, had a real storyline, illegal racing, and the cops TRY but fail to stop it. prostreet, is basically illegal racing made legal. lots of the underground type stuff in there. i think thw stoyline is good, but the racing is most important.
any1 else but my want crysis? frikin awesome game.
