Just wondering about this game and backing it up....There are over 4 gigs of sfd files which i assume are movies....since they are in a movie foilder.....Wasn't there a compressor for them or can we delete some stuff.

Thanx all

Eric

You are going to have to google heavily. You have to convert the sfd to mpg, then degrade the mpg. Then you have to split the video to an .m1v (mp1 video) and .wav (audio) file. Then you must use a utility that will merge the 2 back into an sfd.

SFD2MPG (http://www.xbox-scene.com/tools/tools.php?page=development)

Basically, the sfd file is an mpeg with a special audio compressed format. I do not know if that utulity knows how to do decrypt the audio or not. You might end up with a silent film lol. And, I don't know how to get the movie back into an sfd.

You can look for the "dreamcast movie creator", but that is from the ddk, so it is considered illegal. It should decode and encode it all...

Or instead of doing all the things Quall suggested you could do like this,
1 .unpack the ISO

2. look in the movies folder and remove all videofiles that ends with "j".
there a filename.movie and filenamej.movie files (not named filename and not ending with movie!). Remove those with the "j" and you won't have any japanese movies left. The english ones will still be there.

3. After deleting the jap movies you will also need to delete the doa4.sfd video and then make a copy of the d_aruma.sfd and rename it to doa4.sfd and place it back into the directory. you wont have the doa4 video anymore in the game instead the d_aruma.sfd video will play in its place.

4. if it still does not fit you can also remove these files,
dashupdate.xbe
update.xbe

5.enjoy a dvd5 version with only a doa4 preview video missing:) total size after fixing 4.39gb

You could always do as I did and break and buy a pack of dual layer media. The disc burns fine at 5.9gb and plays great on xenium with m8 plus installed.
