Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum, kind of new to burning DC discs, and I was hoping someone might have some ideas as to how to help me.

I got a DOA2: LE .cdi (file name after unraring the files: DC - Dead or Alive 2 LE(self).cdi) a few days ago. I happen to have a full version of Nero 6 and I am very familiar with the program, so I wanted to use it to burn this back-up. Also regarding DiscJuggler and Alcohol 120%, I've tried them both and have not ever had any success with them.

I planned on making my own TAO .nrg image using a program called SelfBoot.exe, which I got from dcemulation.com. I have already made a few other self-booting discs succesfully using this program (including DreamSNES and a couple Beats of Rage mods). SelfBoot.exe basically runs these programs one by one to create a self-booting image: bin2boot.exe, mkisofs.exe, cdrecord.exe, and cdi2nero.exe or cdi2tao.exe depending.

I extracted the files with Daemon Tools and noticed it was missing an IP.BIN after trying to run SelfBoot.exe. After looking for a while, I had found conflicting info about the missing IP.BIN. Some places said that almost any IP.BIN would work and some places said I needed to make one with IPBIN4WIN.exe. I chose to use an IP.BIN from one of my BOR mods as it was right in front of me.

After burning the disc, I put it in the DC and it started up fine only to reset after the SEGA logo screen ("produced by and/or..." etc), thus looping endlessly. I then tried to create an IP.BIN using IPBIN4WIN.exe, however the program is in a language foreign to me (Russian, I think) and lacks any real help on how to make an IP.BIN. It seemed to me that the program only allowed me to edit existing IP.BINs. I editted the same IP.BIN, burned it again, and again the same results.

I know this seems a little long, but I figure I better tell anyone who might possibly be of any help everything that I know I've done and used. Thanks in advance!

if you want to burn CDI images using Nero, just try CDI2NERO.exe with the original .CDI file you've.

Don't extract all the files to rebuild the image. Just convert the original .CDI to .NRG using CDI2NERO

Also, you can try loading the .CDI using Daemon Tools and then just do a CD-to-CD copy in Nero. (source drive: virtual drive; destination drive: your burner)

The socond option is better because cdi2nero is not a perfect tool... and one more: u must use Nero 5.5.9.X or 5.5.10.X (not the 6 series one) and burn using DAO96.

Thanks for the advice.

I would have used cdi2nero, but from what I understand Nero 6 requires cdi2tao and when I tried to use cdi2tao by its self (not apart of SelfBoot), I encountered an error ("Unsuppported image version").

I will however try the cd-to-cd method using Daemon.

Are you absolutely positive Nero 6 won't work? Because I burned my other self-booting discs (DreamSNES and Beats of Rage) with it and had no problems. I simply created track-at-once .nrg's and then burned them disc-at-once.

I ask because I own a full version of Nero 6 and was hoping I could avoid downloading/buying any more cd burning software that I don't really need.

And since neither of you mentioned it, am I correct in assuming it does not matter that there is no IP.BIN in the image?
