hi
i don't have SC3 yet but maybe i have a solution
(don't think it'll work but...why not ?)
why not replace the files of the game (the importants *.dll *.exe) by the files of the demo ?

First, some (fake!) "cracks" actually did this. Second, the demo is also protected by Starforce 3. At least, I think... I don't have the game...

but how the demo could be protected ? it doesnt need any cd or whatever

Much persons try it with demo files, but donīt work.

Demos of Starforce games are protected (there are some exceptions, but usually are protected), itīs right. The main *.exe and dlls are protected. Demo not scan for CDs, ok, but the exe and dlls are protected anyway, and are differents that full game.

No way with demo.

Remember (forum rules), this forum, is a backup forum, all people have the original game when ask for their backup. OK, you ask for your future backup, when you will buy game.

Other ways to work for backup, that insert your original DVD

1) USB trick, you must have an external USB DVD drive, and follow a determined instructions (search forum for this)
2) Wait for crack. Undetermined date, maybe will not release any time.
3) Wait for new versions of Daemon-tools (DT) or Starforce nigthmare (rumors say that new version of DT is soon)
4) Other experimental and crazy ways :D

Patience.

May the rules be with me

Like what ? hey got an idea ! a crazy idea lol
try to write on your dvd
maybe it is the solution (like one of the last sony cd protection)

LoxHazard

Yes, you could write (with heavy rough pen, obviously) on DVD: "BACKUP ORIGINAL GAME" :D

Power of imagination :D

Ok, there were others ways at time, as a hack for motherboard drivers with RAID for mount images in it, or write to starforce guys for a personal serial number what bypass scan CDs, and more.

Now, only USB trick, or wait for new DT or crack (not easy)

Is the best way, for now.

Or wait for the publisher to get rid of this stupid copy protection in some future (final?) official update. Quite some sensible publishers did that in the past...

Yes, is other option, but is quite difficult in this case.

In every update of SC3, the starforce protection upgrade too in each update.

Maybe.

then try to crack the lowest version

1.0 :o

Before, i refer that devs/publishers donīt think much in a "free protection" patch, because their intention is protect more and more..., and ubisoft have "codegame" version, same game, minor manual and more cheap, then no think in free protection patch in near future, because they release codegame version of SC3 in future.

What version is more difficult to crack, i donīt know, but last patch of SC3 (1.3), is newer starforce version that 1.0, but there are other things more important that version to determine cracking difficult. (number of p-codes for example, or number dlls or data files protected....)

Anyway, all versions of SC3, are extremely hard to crack, and amount a long period of time in it.

I would not expect a lot of cracked games in the next few month because of operation sitedown.

i just noticed file planet are offering this as a direct to drive game http://www.direct2drive.com/170/product/Buy-Tom-Clancy's-Splinter-Cell-Chaos-Theory-Download

if its direct to your hd surely that means all the protection would have to have been changed? ie any cd check or am i wrong about this?

D2D games, are protected by Starforce Proactive, no cd-checks, work with online-activation (or mail or phone activation, need activation key), but *.exe, dlls and data files are protected similar that starforce 3.

At last is the same case that DVD version. bypass online-activation is quite impossible (or extremely hard) and ilegal, and cracked exe and other protected files is quite hard how dvd version.

If you like more information about Staforce Proactive, check this thread:

In saturday, DT pro more news :D

I am curious about something. Everyone is saying that StarForce 3 is difficult to defeat. Yet other games claiming to use StarForce 3 seem to have a fixed .exe available for them (Singles 2 and Area 51 to name 2). If they can be cracked, why is it more difficult to crack SCCT?

First of there are different versions of Starforce. Not only version numbers but also in how much they protect. There is the super duper heavy version that SCCT uses. It is very hard to crack due to lots of OP codes.
Other games may use a lighter version of starforce with less OP codes and also less general protection of the software. Starforce also encrypts files (if I am not remembering wrong here) and those might need to be decrypted.

Some crackers can crack the lighter versions of starforce but have no real chance against the heavier... Sure they could do it but it would take months of work.
