Hi,

I would like to buy a good DVD-R device in order to
have best quality on DPM extraction info (with alcohol)

Can someone confirm a good one to do this ?

Thx

Plextor PX-716SA/A (Serial ATA and ATA) and the older 712SA/A are good drives for this purpose but the newer NEC DV-5800 has great DPM reading capabilities but is not a writer, but perhaps their ND3520A DVD-rw drive does the same job?

Thx,

And what about Toshiba SD-M1912 ?: i hear that the previous
SD-M1612,1712 were really good ones.

I would like to buy this one (toshiba sdm1912) - Someone has
a good feedback on it ?

I cannot help you with the 1912, but I really love my (aged) 1612!
I am really afraid of the day, when it takes its way into electronic nirvana !

Thx for the reply,

In fact i've made the assumption that the 1912 will be as
good as the previous Toshiba's 1612/1712.

If this is not the case, i'll keep you informed....

Bye

Waaooh,

I just bought the MD-S1912 Toshiba DVD reader and it rocks
for DPM extraction with alcohol .

Before, i tried to extract DPM of Splinter Cell3 with my burner
(NEC3520-A) and another DVD reader and it took 2 hours
(with DPM precision high at 1.0x). And finally the obtained
mds file was not good (cdkey authentification failed )

With the toshiba md-s1912 and with the same parameters
(high, 1.0x), it only took 5 minutes (really !) and the mds
file was correct.

So my conclusion : if you have a problem with DPM extraction
buy this one (toshiba md-s1912 : =~ 30 bucks).

Bye
