View Full Version : PPF patches that "fix LBA"? What does this do, exactly?

Okay, assuming I can actually get to a point where I can successfully
install PPF patches (see my previous post), it would probably help if I
knew exactly what these are for. From what I have read, all these
do is change something about the iso image to where certain fussy
CDR drives can burn the games successfully. I am really quite
uncertain what changing the image from 11700 to 11702 means. And
I may be totally mistaken in any event. The .nfo files and every FAQ
I've read do not exactly try to point out the advantages of installing
the PPF patches.

On a related note, is there a website somewhere where I can
reference which CDR drives do and do not support certain modes or
abilities (like the small audio tracks I keep reading about)? The only
thing I have picked up for certain is that one wants to avoid Mitsumi
drives if they can.

Last but not least... Let's say I've found a game that has a LBA patch
AND a trainer. How is one to install both patches? PPF-O-Matic
really insists that the image file match what the PPF file wants, but
this would obviously not be the case after having installed one of the
two patches. Would it work? Or would a trainer / LBA patch
completely throw the whole procedure out of whack?

Thanks in advance.
