I tried running a Lan server from NFSU2, but it just hangs at the screen that says connectiing to lobby, and it stays there until I press escape..
How do I go about making a Lan server to play it in Multiplayer ?

Try to play it through online lobby. If it will work, then you don’t need LAN.

Then try Gamer's Internet Tunnel (GIT). Maybe it will help. Don’t ask where to find it. Search on web.

OK, I have the solution that will save ANY and ALL problems revolving around Need for Speed Underground 2 and the LAN. I picked this off of another forums page on another website.
Solution: ALL computers that will be playing together must have (in windows) a set default gateway. The gateway must be the same on all computers.
To set the default gateway: right click on the network icon that appears in the system tray. click on status. click on properties. then click on internet protocol properties. u are now where u set the IP address of the network card. under it, there is a place to set the default gateway and the default DNS server. set a default gateway. this must be the same on all computers.
Information must be free and accessible to all.

btw, u do not need an internet connection. u only need a network connection. having an internet connection means nothing.
P.S: sorry to include this, but I think it is ****ty that i had to sign up and register in order to be able to post. registration should be only to create threads, not answer ppl needing help.

Having the same default gateway does not work: I right click on the network in the taskbar and go to status then support: that tells me my default gateway address...if that is the same thing as you are talking about it does not work because I have tried it

Can you imagine all the crap that people would write if they didnt have to register! It would make it to easy for people to break the forum rules as they would not have to worry about being banned! ;)
Hey guys,
If anyone is still having problems getting LAN play to work in NFSU2, you might find this link useful - it's a program which will intercept the packets sent out by NFSU2 and change them to enable network play WITHOUT having to change subnets or gateways. There are Windows and Linux versions available. The only thing you'll need to do (apart from run the program) is open up the NFSU2 ports if you're behind a firewall (or get your router to forward them, if you have one)

We've tested it with up to 3 players, works like a charm! Enjoy!
I had the exactly the same problem with NFSU2 on a LAN with my mates - i got round it by doing the gateway thing mentioned above, and also running the XP Network Setup Wizard on each of the PCs - that fixed it straight away. :D
It is a strange one though   :(  :D ;)

first go to network connections, click on properties, then internet protocols's properties. now you get "ip adress and stuff" put your ip adress in eg;196.182.0.1/2/3/5 . Now all players must put in the same number in the "default gate" Slot eg; your number 196.182.0.1 and viola enjoy the game
