View Full Version : Cheapest functional Chip?

What's the cheapest chip you would reccomend? I'm asking because a friend after seeing my Media player setup with my xbox wants to do his but doesn't think he can get his wife to approve the 50 bucks for an executer.

We're just looking for basic stuff, homebrew apps, XBMC, probably backups but not planning on it.

This is wat I am installing on my new xbox. It costs £13 inc. shipping in UK. So its about $20 if not less over their.

Just search Duo x2. It is the cheapest modchip and does just about everything, even supports bigger hdd's xD

Which xbox version does he have? V1.0/v1.1's can have their tsop split (which will give two 512k banks). Meaning, a modded xbox would be the price of a STDP switch, and the wires+solder. Rouphly $4 if you buy a switch from Radio Shack (they rip you off).

I did that to one of my xbox's. I used a memcard to transfer the 007 evox exploit save from my modded (chipped) xbox, to the one I was tsop flashing. That is the only downside is that you need a memcard, and the game 007: AUF. The game can be rented, but the memcard....can be returned??

If he has a v1.2-1.5, then he can still do the tsop flash, but he can never go on xbl if he does (since it cannot be slpit, in which case, no switch is needed).

If he has a v1.0 or v1.1, and wants to do the tsop, i can help a little on that, but want to warn about some thing to do in the process, befor eyou flash.

thats wat my mate did on his xbox, cus it had the two bios banks, but no one else on here had any idea wat i was talking about..

Nice to see someone else does :D

I actually did it so I can play H2 system link between my 2 xbox's. The tsop flash xbox has a crappy thompson, and fails to load the maps alot. I couldn't even use the original disk. Oddly enough, the copy works fine.

I am going to do the same to my current x-elixis box, i mean tsop split it. I will have a 512k flash bank instead of 256k, and will still be upgradable. My current chip messed up, so I get flash errors whenever I attempt to re-flash it.
