Hi guys, Hope someone can help with this one. I've just started installing these Duo x/2 chips that have a dual bios setup on them. This is the first time I have dealt with these as I was installing Aladdins beforehand. Anyway, the install went sweet, the chip fired up (pre-loaded with x2 4979 bios on bank 0) and successfully formatted and loaded evox with my install disc. However, when I tried to flash the x2 4981 bios from my install disc the xbox froze just as the word "erasing" appeared.
If anyone is familiar with these chips can you tell me if I have to hold the power button down for a certain amount of time to make the flash writeable?
Any help is, as always, much appreciated.
Cheers.

I am not too familiar with those chips, but I will tell that if the flash was not writable, evox would display a message "flash not writeable" and not even attempt to erase. That same thing happened to my x-elixis chip. I left it there for 10 minutes and still was frozen, the bar was not even moving.

Fortunately, after I turned it off the xbox still booted fine.
Unfortunately, whenever I try to flash a new set of bios, I get an unknown flash type error now.

I just did a split tsop on one of my other xbox's without many problems. I think I will do the same with the x-elixis chipped box as well..

Thanks for the reply Quall. Mine did the same thing when I tried to flash the first time from my install disc. It just sat there and the bar didn't even come up. When I rebooted it worked fine so I installed evox then tried to flash from there and evox said "flash not writeable".
I'll just have to experiment some more ;)

I installed one of these in a friends 1.6 the other day. Everything went sweet and I had no problems updating the existing bios to M8 which I made some small changes to.

I simply FTP'd it to the Xbox and flashed it from Evox.
