Multiplayer Doom ???

Hey All..

I'm a total Newbie here... this is my first post... But I was wondering... I just installed Doom 3, however when I go to play multiplayer online it asks me for my CD Key. HOwever the one I have doesn't work cause it keeps popping up... Does anyone know how to avoid this or how I can get this game going online?
