View Full Version : Rallysport Challenge 2 to dual layer
I copied all files to dual layer disk by the same method as I normally do (Transfer files from Xbox to H/D by Flashfxp and use Nero force xbox option to burn DVD), this method did not work (disk unrecognized)
Has anybody tried and succeeded in directly copying this game to a dual layered dvd?
TIA

the problem is the dual layer disc it self not many home dvd players will read them let alone a xbox.
I should have realised problem (obvious when you know the answer), therefore the next obvious question:-
Does anybody know of a dvd rom which can read dual layered disks being put in an xbox and working?
And if so could you give any info!

It’s not worth all that trouble, I can’t even find a place that sells DL media here, they have the DL burners.
Sometimes it seems hard enough to get these drives to read single layers half decently.
Get a big Hard drive and back up to that. Wait for DL to become more mainstream, let someone else solve all these problems, if possible, and waste their media.

i have to agree it took long enough to get a stable singel layer format
screw the dl format for another 2 generations atleast. the only good thing i can think of using dl for is mp3 archiving it would save me a hell of a lot of discs as i have 126 dvd's full of the things. could half that with dl.
Copy I made did not work on my Xbox but worked perfectly on a friends the only difference being that my Xbox had a Samsung DVD-Rom and his a Thomson. Draw your own conclusions.

Well, there you go! Thomson drives are good for something. Actually I have both of these drives and I’m torn, Samsung reads CDR’s and scratched originals better and I found the Thomson drive reads cheaper DVD-R media a lot better so if I ever do get DL media … that won’t be any time soon for me.

samsungs can't read dvd+, well, the majority anyways.
Was your freinds XBox chipped? The XBox with the Samsung that read the DL DVD?
Not sure whats up with Samsungs and DVD+Rs. Seems some will read them some wont. Like mine will read a movie thats on a DVD+R but not a game.

Some drives have a booksetting bit e.g. lite-on. You need to set this to DVD-ROM. This will make all disks 99% compatible with DVD readers and XBOX's etc.
