i am running xp on my pc and i think i am gonna get an old laptop with eitehr win95 or 98.. i have a crossover network cable.. i am just woundering what i need to be able to transfer files? anything.. from my xp pc to the old laptop..
anyone know what i can do?
well plug in the cable to both machines, that should do the trick
lmao. If that does not work get a router n set up a small network. If you dont want to go down that route use your Printer cable and a program called LapLink which is made to allow pc n laptop to transfer files :)
yeah except the printer cable method is EXTREMLY slow so i wouldnt recommend that

so i should just plug in my cross over cable?? i think its like an eithernet cable (tip) and i dunno if the laptop has one.. ill find out..
so if i just plug them both in then it will let me transfer files? wont i need a program?
thanks
Well, as long as u have network cards in both the machines, yeah u plug it each end to each machine, then, if using win xp, just use the network wizard and that should be it.
