Ok. Im havin real trouble with this. I have the .CDI I have converted it to both .ISO and .NRG. I have tried both using Nero 6.1 and the disc doesn't boot up. It should be self -booting. I have tried DOA/96 mode and DOA but DOA failed twice in burning. Nero says the .NRG is Track 1 Audio and Track 2 Data (mode 2). I'm gonna try to use DJ but dont know any specific settings.
Help?

DJ :
1) select "Burn CD and DVD images"
2) select the source (the image you want to burn)
3) click on "start"
Nothing easier.

Ive gone through a lot of CD's. Im using DJ4 (demo). People keep saying to change stuff like DOA and Mode's and stuff. DJ seemed the simplest as it didn't involve conversion to another format. It should work and Im not sure why it doesn't
It doesn't because your Nero version is rubbish for burning DC .nrg's :(
Either get Nero 5.5.10.56 and use it to burn the image in DAO/96... or update to the very latest Nero 6.3.x.x and burn in plain DAO.
Trust me on this. ;)

It appears to be Nero 6.3.1.6. I have just got Grandia 2.CDI echelon and burned it straight from DJ4.1 PRO. It didn't work on the Dreamcast either. The discs burn alright, they just don't work. Would this DOA thing work in DJ? It has "methods" under a tab with checkboxes for RAW and TAO. There seems to be many tweaks in these subheadings. I know my Dreamcast aint the prob cos Ive played backups on it in the past and NTSC ones (mine is PAL) Something must be goin wrong somewhere. I'll try Nero 5.5.10.56.
EDIT: Hey 5.5.10.56 worked on Grandia. Seems Im gettin somewhere
Yeah... Even the latest Nero 6.x is apparently a hit-or-miss. But Nero 5.5.10.x is always 100% reliable in burning DC .nrg files. It's amazing and sad at the same time that Ahead had such a great burning engine going in 5.5, but chose to completely overhaul it for the worse in 6.x ...

Bingo! Failed a couple of times on 48x but on 32x Skies of Arcadia burned and worked.
You should allways burn at the lowest burning speed possible.

Really? I was not aware of this. Maybe this was one of the reasons I was screwing up so many discs. Hmm slowest you say? Would 8x be slow enough or are we talking about 1x super slow?
I disagree with him... certainly there's no need to burn at the slowest speed - just a moderate one, that is, not the highest one. You already saw for yourself that 48x was too fast but 32x worked just fine. As a rule of thumb, I recommend just a few notches below your drive's maximum recording speed. Generally, 16x - 24x is absolutely safe.
But 1x? Hah, gimme a break :D
I guess i wasn't clear enough, the speed for better results is for my experience between 8x and 16x.
I do my burning at 12x for most games.
Da1m0n i never mention 1x but like i'm willing to admit i wasn't clear enough on it.
And i can say that the reason for saying like this is that my burnner does not burn at a lower speed that 4x , even if i set the speed to a lower setting the burn will be at 4x, never slower then that.
Well, then we seem to agree. :)
I never said 1x, though - he did. :D
