Do you have a modchip or do you use another method for swapping the backup in?

I've interpreted your post as saying that the particular game, the one you play heavily, doesn't boot now. There is a utility called CDcheck.exe that will check the condition of the particular game. if it has errors, then you're stuffed. The utility can be loaded from ####://www.cdrinfo.com/software/

When I first read your post I thought it was all PS2 games so I suspected damagae from one of the non-modchip methods; obviously not the case.

Its happens when i play any game for a certain period of time. e.g gta3 burned yesterday played nearly ever since tonight dosnt want to boot. Usually it can take up to days for it to happen. other games i havnt played as much but burned much earlier boot fine.

HELP ME

Thankx in advance

Unless I'm being thick, where does Windows xp come into this? Widge is complaining about the ps2 not playing games he's had running for some time.

Is there a problem with the Gameshark media?

zoedee

only going by what he said charlie
i read it it only happens once hes played it for along time
so it works then it doesnt
he says cdrwriters has probs with xp(he got info diff forum more likely incorrect

The gameshark i think works fine. I mean it plays older games ive burnt but not played so much.

I just heard that winxp may be the prob.

I NOTICED THAT ALL THE GAMES THAT DON'T BOOT ANYMORE RE OVER 75 MINS. i put all games on 80 media though

Thankx

some older writers had probs writing 80 min disks
but this wouldnt explain why they work then after alot of use doesnt
unless u treat your disks rough (r they still in good condition
works then not works
my kids damage few(verbatims take bit more of a bashing)

have u m8 with chipped ps2
swap your gameshark with him c if he gets probs
and if yours is sorted
if still same u got prob with diff gameshark id say it must b your chip
and try your games dont work any more in his ps2 then we know if disk is ok

Widge - Let's get back to the buried facts as it's 16 posts ago. Please confirm or otherwise contradict each of the following position statements as I see them. I use the Post number as reference point:

1a A particular game has stopped booting

1b You have tried making a further copy from the CD in 1a

2 You have enigmatically stated that "this happens with all games". Needs clarification

4 You have the NEO2 chip

6a U burned GTA3 Friday; played through Saturday now won't boot.

6b Infrequently played games boot fine

7 Reburn of original downloaded ISO causes freeze

8 CDCheck on a suspect disk showed no errors (noted 703MB). PLEASE CONFIRM THAT THIS WAS A PREVIOUSLY BOOTING DISK.

10 The problem is confined to games with more than 650MB.

15 Gameshark is not suspect because smaller games boot.

17 Rewrite the original download doesn't work.

In this comprehensive light the following diagnosis might be reasonable and appears to support conclusions suggested so far:

There is either a media problem with heavily used games (but that wouldn't happen suddenly to all > 6540MB games), or there is sh*it on the PS2 lens or some other PS2 laser related aberration.

Assuming media problems, you have tried to burn from the original ISO (presumably using the same equipment as before, The result has failed. PLEASE CONFIRM and state burning equipment). The burn is OK as reported by the software. Windows XP has hosted the burning operation.

That leaves two questions to be resolved:

A By reburning under W2000 or W98 with the same equipment as originally burnt the >650MB game, we might narrow down the cause of the problem with the re-burn

B At Post 8 above, you stated that a suspect disk, previously used had NO ERRORS. It should boot. This is most puzzling and leaves the way open to suspecting the PS2 - or if the media can be cleaned with warm soapy water that has been known to work.

10 The problem is confined to games with more than 650MB. CORRECT

The comments at the bottom of your post suggest that you are trying to boot/use a copied AR2. I'm confused as elsewhwre you refer to Gameshark. Of course a burned copy of AR2 won't work.

Widge

i am using a action replay 2 im get mixed up with the 2. I tried reburning the ar2 cd but obviously it didnt work.
