They have had some really bad problems, they have basically lost everything and will have to restore from an old (really old) backup :(
justice7 reckons that they will come back even stronger with an even better Gamebase site, hopefully by this weekend (might be a bit too soon).
I personally wish them good luck in restoring the site :)
Dear Gamebase Members
Due to the host losing its hard disk, and all of our files we are left with a very old backup.
This is a major inconvenience to us, as the site had gone down just before we had went to move to our own server
First the bad news. We will not be able to revive the old forums, site or posts. The best that we can do, is
upload our old backup for viewing (not posting) purposes. In the meantime (the good news), we will be working on a newer
much more improved gamebase. This will give us the opportunity to move to a more powerful forum, more easily expandible and
upgradable system. Gamebase is not dead however we have taken a really big hit.
We are in desperate need of help to rebuild this website and promoting it.
You can contact us on IRC, on the GAMESURGE IRC network in #gamebase , or send an e-mail to myself at davidsmith@cogeco.ca
Expect the new site to be working by this weekend.
To our emu authors, I apologize and hope that you will bear with us through this storm. In the end, we will have a much better
environment for our users.
I sincerely apologize for any and all inconveniences caused. GGN shall return!

Update
UPDATE! (Thursday April 15, 2004)
I have just spoken with our host directly, and they are attempting to recover our files from the defunct hdd.
It is possible, that the site could be revived. Stay tuned. More to come.

Good news :)
Gamebase Members,
We are back! cfrhost.com has dug up the files, and we are only a week behind now. (because of the downtime).
We are on a new server now, with our affiliate Walibe.com. This is tremendous news for us, as we are going to be able to expand like never before.
I will be working on the site off and on during this week, as I have a lot of assignments for school to work on. However, I have the great pleasure of bringing gamebase back to all of you!
Note: I am aware of some of the issues still currently going on, such as subdomains and email.. however this will be resolved shortly.
in the meantime, you can access the emulator sites at:
