View Full Version : what do the titles mean?
You know the titles below people's names when they post like "Junior Member" etc...
I think they change depending on how many posts you make.
I know the mods have custom ones.
I know banned people have "banned" in their title.
My question is, what other ways are there to change your title?
I've seen people with titles like "Supreme Idiot" and I don't think they're mods.
Did they anger the mods or is it like a warning before you're banned?

Go to "user cp", "Edit profile", and then put the title you want under "Custom User Text"
Thanks a lot
It seems I cannot have custom text or avatars unless I have 10 posts.
Oh well, I'll wait.

Well I got 35 postings (36, with this one) and don't have the option to add a custom title, but there are other guys with less who got one.
What's wrong?

There's a limitation of a minimum number of posts and (I think) a minimum of months registered before this option becomes active. I think you'll have to wait a few more months, but I have asked Empire what those limits are exactly.

Thanks for asking him.
But in my case, it's strange...the mentioned "Supreme Idiot", thomast, registered one month later than me, and got lesser postings.
Btw, my first guess was only admins/mods are allowed giving custom titles, after PM request or something like that, because there's nothing mentioned in the FAQ.
But this would probably result in a lot of stupid work for the staff, so it can't be this way ;)

if they gave someone the title Supreme Idiot it may have been because he did a lot of stupid stuff and they forsed it on him just gessing about that though

No, every title is chosen by the account holder. If someone calls himself "supreme idiot", that's wholly up to him.

Got an answer from El Supremo (Empire). Apparently the limit is now Senior Member, which is 100 posts. That's all I know about it, come back if your hundredth post doesn't do the trick either :D
Ofcourse if someone has > 100 posts and still not this ability, I'm curious to hear from them too.

Wtf...200?
Approx. 2-3 years are enough time for me to think about a real good title, I guess :D

Well, the board software will be upgraded to vBulletin 3.0 soon. Since that will bring with it a lot of subtle (and not so subtle) changes, we'll tackle this issue when the board is upgraded, ok ? In the meantime just pretend you WANT your description to read "Junior Member" :D
