pioneer a05

I have a pioneer ao5/105 in my medion system (Purchased from aldi) and on some discs it will only write a 1x no matter what the write speed of the disc....datasafe 2x media in perticular.
I have looked at updating the firmware but the pioneer website issues a caution warning with the 1.33 update that the aldi/medion system if the update is used the firmware cannot be refreshed to the previous firware if there is any problems.
I was wondering if any of you peeps had come across this situation and would be thankful for your advice.

i had a lots of probs with my 105 with datasafe disc's would only write at 1x when it said 4x on the disc they was overprints as for the 2x you need the update firmware to write at 2x
