Problem with windows 98se

Previously, I could right click on the desktop and have the option to create a shortcut, a new folder, various types of files, etc. Now all of the sudden I can't do this, just the standard options. Even in the file menu, there's no option to create any of the above items. Probably someone got into my machine, while it was connected, and did SomeThing.

Anyone got some ideas, or has this ever happened to you?

Whatever the problem was, it's now fixed. I just ran windows setup while in windows!

Also, in case anyone doesn't realise, if you ever reinstall windows, be sure to go to microsoft.com and check for updates for your particular version of windows. Several farely recent security updates are probably available that has to do with system security while online.
