I do not currently have a moded xbox // I have heard rummers of live kicking people off because of them, anways so I was wondering if I could use linux to copy the game since its in "fatx" - correct; possibly linux can read this format or not have any problems with it? please post me back if you have tried this already or if you might have any clues to if it will work.

First, Microsoft will ban you from Live if you put Lunix on your Xbox because they consider it a 'modification'
Second, as far as I am concerned, no, Lunix does not allow you to copy games.
Third, there is a web page (I don't think I can post it :) that will tell you how to put Lunix on your Xbox.
Why doesn't xbox let you have linux on your hard-drive?!
Its weird because PS2, is going to have a Linux kit coming out soon.
I'd love for M$ to release a Linux kit.

Cause Microsoft and Linux dont like each other.
Tyler! :p
Ahh good point, for a second, the entire idea of Microsoft and Windows slipped out of my head lol.
I'd love to see Windows for the xbox, haha ... I could imagine the errors and crashes now!

I think you can put linux on xbox but you wont be able to go on live with it. I even think you can make your pc into a full fledged PC with Linux but you wont be able to play games on it anymore.

There is Windows for Xbox too. Just check out xbins. It is buggy though, very buggy.
Tyler!
 ... I didn't know, well atleast I'm not surprised about the buggyness.
I'm planning to get the Linux kit, for my PS2.
Which I'll still be able to run games on.

What I think he is trying to state here is, can you load Lunix on the Xbox, then, put a game in the tray and access it off of a network and the answer is no. As far as my knowlage goes, once you load Lunix on the Xbox, it can no longer read Xbox disks. It becomes a PC instead of an Xbox.
Its impossible to run any Xbox games on an xbox with Linux on it.
Doing so turns your xbox into a PC.
You can run M$-DO$ and Window$ 95/98/ME/NT/2000 on an Xbox on top of VMware in Linux. If configured correctly, the guest operating system can have up to 48 MB of RAM. Performance is very good (even playing DivX in Window$ works flawlessly), but Window$ 3D games will probably not work.
