My question focuses on the firrmware version of my PX-W2410A, which is the original since I bought it (version 1.02). Lately, I started using Nero 6, and I had some unexplained errors while burning cds. It seems my device is occasionaly struggling to read from certain media. I know that updating the firmware is essential, because it fixes all sorts of flaws and compatibility errors. Another reason that I often use my cdrw for, is to backup protected games (most of them with Safedisc 2.8++, Securom and others). I heard that updating the firmware, might constitute the drive from being able to copy such protected discs (because the manufacturer might have removed it). My drive is currently able to copy such protected discs (alcohol), so I am hesitating to update my firmware to the latest revision. Am I right to hold back by using the old firmware. Would it be a chance that updating the firmware would fix those write problems / but also would it make my drive not able to copy protected discs? Do you recommend me a particular firmware revision?

Cheers
J.
