Hi guyz and gals

I'm one of those guyz that likes to backup his own bought copies.
Dvd films etc

I notice that my dvd writer Pioneer A06 has new firmware available

I've had a few coasters - Dont play on my gear but they play on friends about 20%

My firmware is 1.05 and 1.07 is offered

Is it advisable to upgrade or stay with 1.05

As i sense each upgrade tries to make it more dificult to back up

any you guyz or gals please advise/comment

regards

If you don't upgrade you can damage your Pioneer DVD writer using new media. Its written all over my new blank Memorex DVD-R's and +Rs packaging I just bought today. I wouldn't waste any time getting the update or you might be upgrading your entire burner real soon.

How can you tell which version firmware you have? I also have the Pioneer ao6/106, I think it was flahed to 1.7. When I try to backup my movies, it will only rip the movie at 2x or 4x on CloneDVD if the movie needs to be compressed to fit onto a single disc. But if the movie is a straight 1:1 backup copy with no compression needed, then it will rip at 8x-12x. Is anyone else getting this speed? Is there any way to get the drive to rip at 12x even while compressing?

I know ANYDVD tells you what firmware version you have.
