i wanna purchase the xbox wireless adapter cause i want the freedom to move my xbox around the house without the need of wires everywhere. i have a dsl router and a switch which i use to connect the xbox with a rj45 cable to transfer games via ftp. i heard somewhere that its not possible to connect an xbox wireless adapter if u have those dsl routers that has the phone line connected to it or something like that. i have a VisionNet model #708EUR. i know first if its compatible with the xbox wireless adapter b4 i tend to fork out the cash and buy it.
I don't think thats true at all, networking is networking.
What I'd do is buy a wireless access point and connect that to your switch, than buy wireless adapter and connect that to your switch.
The wireless access point will make your network wireless more or less. I run wireless in my house, and all my stuff in from Belkin, havnt had any problems with it.

so i'd have to buy a wireless access point? i cant just buy a xbox wireless adapter and a wireless adapter for my switch? i also heard that if the xbox is connected to the internet with the wireless adapter that it will automatically update the xbox's hardware and stuff, which will overwrite the hacked bios to the original bios. is this true?
Okay I think you misunderstood me.
802.11b Wireless Network Access Point (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=201523&pcount=&Product_Id=122640) This is the wireless access point I would buy to make a wired network wireless. I have installed these for a few people and they work flawlessly. And this is what you would plug into your switch.
Wireless Ethernet Bridge - WET11 (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=36&prid=602) And this is what I would use to make the XBox wireless.
Any way, one unit is from Belkin the other unit is from Linksys, both work fine together.
And as for your XBox taking updates automatically thats an easy fix. If you don’t have XBox Live you have nothing to worry about. If you do have XBos Live, go into the settings and turn off auto log on.
Than I would also suggest upgrading the BIOS on your chip to X2 4980. This BIOS is very nice. It dose not allow the XBox to connect to XBox Live while the chip is on. Its also nice so that you cant accidentally log into XBox Live while playing a game. Nor can your friends, or even a little brother...
But every thing else via network connections work fine, like FTP, XBConnect, ect ect.

thanx rms2001...it seems like im getting more and more informed on this black box :) . do these two products come cheap(access point and the wireless ethernet bridge)? but dont u think thats all alot of devices? im gonna have my dsl router, my switch, wireless ethernet bridge, and the wireless access point.
Well, is there any way you can get just a DSL modem? B/c than you can toss out your switch and get a wireless router. Most routers have a build in 4 port switch like mine. Than there would be no need for an access point.

i think i can't sense mine is a dsl modem and a router built in. and thats why i have to use a hub to connect my xbox to my pc. for the most part i think im gonna have to have my xbox "wired" or run a long ass cable from my room to the living room....haha
LOL I remember when I first got my XBox and I told two other friends to get XBoxes and we all had Halo.
Well every week end we would all go to Rob's place and have Halo LAN parties. We would get as many people where at one time, never got 16 people there, got 12 once.
Any way, we had four XBoxes, so we needed four TVs and a bunch load of RJ45 cable. Since the switch was in Rob's room and the house was long and the other three TVs were at the other end of the house. One was in the living room, and the others were in the other two bed rooms. We had to run cable all over that house.
So I know what ya mean by running cables. I wish I had the money at the time to get wireless stuff. Once Rob's dog chewed thru two of my cables at the same time... Damn dog. With kinda put a swift end to that Halo party.

I just advice you to not get a netgear wireless bridge. Turns out they are only compatable with other netgear bridges and access points (the $150 or less ones anyway). Almost bought an access point for $85 (netgear, read above). Got a $30 router instead (my house is wired with network cables though, as in they are in the walls).
Actually, the only reason I first posted this was to tell you not to get the official xbox one, it is a plain rip off. I woiuld suggest yo uget the one rms pointed out, it is cheaper and works fine from the looks of it.

i think for the most part i guess im gonna have to play xbox live in my room cause if i buy any more devices i'll be giving batman some competition..haha:D . i already have my hub and my dsl rouer/modem. plus i have ps2, gamecube, and xbox and pc so u could imagine how much wires are running behind the tv stand and behind the desktop, it looks like a sphagetti factory..haha:D
