I am learning as much as I can about the Xbox before I buy one.
I did a search on this boxployer thingy to learn more about it, as the xbox i plan to buy, has this on it according to the person i am buying it from but I dont know if he is trying to BS me or not. I dont really trust him much but it is a good buy so I am gonna go for it. Can someone help guide me in the right direction?

I posted once before on whether it was a good deal on not but I will re-type what I know about it so far.
1. its modded with a Chamelleon chip.
2. it has an upgraded HD 120g
3. Evox dashboard, not sure if I am typing this right. Just going by what he told me.
4. Boxployer???? whatever that is.
5. His buddy claims it will play ps2 games which I know hes full of S**t on that one. As I have read so far, thats a no go...
6. Comes with 13 original games. One of them is Knights of the old republic. He claims that is a good one....???
7. HD is supposedly unlocked....I did read something about it having to be locked to play on Xbox Live. Which I will not be until I learn more.
8. One controller. ( I thought he had 2, but only 1)
He is selling it for $400.00 and I was told that was a d**m good buy, so I am going for it.

Sorry about this being so long, but I need expert advice here...( as I am Xbox illiterate FOR NOW..

I say its a good deal. 120gig hdd is about $80-120 right now xbox itself is $179 I think. A chip is around $40 average. Plus 13 original games, Im not even gonna attempt the math on that tonight.

Ps2 thing his buddy said is bs. I would just pretend his buddy isnt there anymore, especially when he asks you somethin. Just totally and completely ignore him. People hate that.

Boxplorer isnt somethin that is to be sold anyways. Its free. Just tell him you know that.

I'd only say yes if the 13 games were good. Kotor is really fun if you like starwars and rpg's (not really turn based).

xbox and a 120gb HDD will cost you about $270+tax. That includes the xtra s-controller and the 2 free games in a bundle. So, the question is, are 13 games and free hdd/chip installation worth about $90. All those things (evox, boxplorer) are free, so you should not have to pay for them.

I am learning alot Fast and correctly thanks to all of the help. ty ty I closed on the deal last night. Gonna give it to my Kids for Christmas. Man, I wish I had a Dad like me when I was a wee lil lad. :p
They got a GC too!!!! and thanks to Tylers recommendation on the DUO chip, I even modded their PS2 for them;;;; Shssss, and for ME:p What can I say, I'm a certified genuine hardcore Gamer.

It is definitely different than the PS2. Much more complex, and yet some what easier in a sence, as I build Computers on the side and xbox relates more to computer philosiphy than any other game console I have ever seen.
Thanks Again for all your support and advice.

True that. I thinks its just a matter of getting the hang of things. Then everything will become easy.

I just installed one of those 80mm blue led fans in mine (pain in the a-ss). But now my xbox maintains a nice cool temp no matter how long I play.

If this one seems to get a bit hot over long periods of play, I may ask you more about how you added that fan if I cant figure it out myself. Thats a good idea to keep the heat down. Good thinkin' Big T..;)

Thanks Tyler ;) , I appreciate it. I think I better install one too, cause I already know its gonna get played alot.
Was it as bad to install as you described? I think the term was (pain in the a**):p

Well its mainly time consuming.

I had a hard time reassembling after the fan was installed, because I think my fan may have been a tad (and I mean a tad) thicker than usual.

So when I was putting the mainboard and powerboard back in, the corners of each were touching the sides of the fan. I trimmed the fan on the mainboard side and that fixed that. On the powerboard side the fan had the wires for the LED really close to were it was rubbing so I chose to trim a little bit of each the fan and the plastic part surrounding the where the power cord inserts.

Finally after all that was done all the holes where the m/b and p/b lined up and I was able to screw everything back in.

Oh and before I forget:

When I put my dvd drive back in I neglected to realize that it too pushed a little bit on the middle side of the fan. This pushed the side in enough to stop the fan from spinning.

So before thinking your finished I suggest looking over all youve done and making sure especially after everything is put back together that the fan is indeed spinning and blowing outside.

Dude thats definitely a pain.
Does the type of fan really matter cause I have a few computer fans here, in various sizes. I even have some slimline fans for a laptop but they are most likely not going to be big enough.

Actually the links I posted were for computer fans. I guess as long as it sucks more air out of your xbox than the original you should be ok. I just liked the blue led lighting up look.

Remember your xbox is a computer.
