Tyler recommended this chip to me so I just sent mine out to spedmetal today, to install it for me. I have read alot of reviews on this chip and they all are very good, so I hope to add a positive note myself. ( Thanks to Tyler for the intro, and Spedmetal for an anticipated sucessful install).

yes the duo is very reliable so i have heard uses a larger amount of volts but that dont matter it uses the same actel chip as the m2. direct boot off all games what can i say same or better to the m2 ay!

It is now installed and working.
But I was at the menu "Browser", "config"
If I put in a backup then it will be a RSOD.
but tap reset then it will load.

Havn't tried the browsermenu yet but hey..
I'm happy...

Congrats!

I knew you would be ok. I guess if you really need to boot off the browser people can pay the extra $20+ and solder a few extra wires.

Congrats Dustpuppy. Always good to hear about sucessful outcomes.

@Tyler , Which one are you? :D

In the specification it says it direct boots from browser.
But I don't really care, I can play my backups that was the main thing...

Yeah, I was nervous as hell when I soldered the bios legs..
I'm quite confident at soldering but it was a while since the last time I did so small things..

But new it's done and it seems to work...

Hmm...who was it that tip on the bananas? I used it and it sured helped my shaky hands....:D

Today maybe, but tomorrow and etc... Now that gonna take some work.

We need some sucess in solving the ALMIGHTY post about the future of GCW. Mirrors going bezerk and downloads are slow.
Servers shutting down. Solve that one and we can call it a day. Then this would turn out to be a great holiday for everyone (here)!!!!!

odd, from what other people write in the forums, it seems to boot fine from browser.

Well, have tried it little.
In startup menu I will get RSOD (on this backup anyway)
If I'm in browser the disc will not directboot but if I tap X on disc then it will boot.
is any wire faulty? Hmm..thinking
well, it isn't so bad to just have to tap reset once to get it to boot either.

Somthin is screwy. You should be able to boot without taping reset.

IT's just that to find out what is wrong that will be tha hard part.
have no time right now to fix it either but next week maybe.

Going away for the weekend but maybe I can get hold of a ohmmeter so I can check the wires...
