I was wondering what is the best dvd burner out on the market today. The price of it is not an option. I want to know the best I can get. I am thinking that my External USB 2.0 dvd drive is the problem with me makeing backups of my games.
So I would like to know of the best DVD Burner.
Thank You,
Chromedome

A lot of people on this forum use Pioneer drives.
Go for the Pioneer A06 or 106(OEM).
The Pioneer drives are top class, it's true so go for an A06 from their range. There is a Plextor 8x burner coming soon (and Plextor are the cats maraccas believe me, of each of the two Plextor burners i owned/currently own, not one has given me an ounce of trouble or a bad burn!). The NEC 1300A might be worth a look and a few people use the Sony DRU-500A.

Ok so what would be better:
Plextor PX-708A
or
Pioneer DVR-A06USPK4
Thank You
Well, if it is speed you want, the Plextor wins. If you want quality, both match each other there and seeing as 4x media is apparently being phased out, this leaves the Plextor as the one to get, but it may be fairly expensive, you'll have to shop around a few places to find the best price.
Hope this helps...

Please can anyone tell me which (good) DVD burner is able to correct EFM Encoding (Safedisc2) when burning CD-R?
Any Plextor DVD-R/W and the Pioneer A05/A06.
Hope this helps...

Thanx, lufcfan.
Google was my solution. Have found a list with CD-Burners and DVD-Burners which are able to do that.
What about the LiteOn 811S / 411S. Both are able to write correct EFM. Are that "good" DVD-Burners?
Providing they read/write RAW-DAO-96, then yes they are good burners.

I was wondering is there a dual layer dvd (dvd9) recorder out yet,
If so what is the name of it?
If not does anyone know when they will come out?
Dual layer (DVD9) for people don't know are dvd's that can hold 9.4 or 9.7gb on one side of the disk, like normal dvd movies are.
Thank You for all your help.
Nick
A Dual Layer DVD Burner is coming from Sony, (Or Pioneer, I can't remember which), but what I do know is that they will cost an absolute fortune and so will the discs, and Blu-Ray will probably be close to being released in the west by then anyway...

lufcfan do you know the date in which they will be released, and if you know about how much would they cost? If you have a link here you have read the article that would be great also.
Thank You,
No definate dates yet, just 'Some time in 2004.'
This may be of some use to you though...

This is an update to my forum, I went out and got the new plextor dvd burner. I bought TrueCrime also at Bestbuy, and burned it to a Verbatim DVD-R and used the Magic Swap Disk to boot the game. I am pleased to say that it booted without any problem, and I was able to play the game.
So I would like to say to people that I had an USB 2.0 Microsolutions DVD+-RW drive, DON'T BUY IT. I know it is not much but I have had nothing but problems with the drive. Get the plextor Plextor DVD+-RW PX-708A it is $250.00 but worth every penny.
Good Luck to everyone but remember only copy the game ONCE IF YOU OWN IT. Don't post anything about Downloading, Renting, or any other stupid stuff about games. Only about your own games.
