View Full Version : howto backup selfboot copied games
Hi,
Could anyone please help me to backup some selfboot games that I borrowed from my friends.
So far I have successfully burned NBA on NBC with DJ 2.0 and HP8100 writer. But I have problems with s/b games like Silent Scope/Sydney 2000/18 Wheeler. All I got is 2 audio tracks when completed.
IN DJ2.0, I checked ignore read errors/raw read write and uncheck verify/burnproof.

try doing this
make a copy using "cd from same recorder", put the game you want to copy in the burner and on the right move the burn speed to 4x or below..(just to be safe)
in the action box make sure you have "write" in the box...(other wise you have to wait twice as long bor the burn, because of the verify feature.
ok..now hit "start"
watch and see if DJ is recording the image right... you might have to make some changes to your system like disable "auto load".. you should see DJ start caching the cd though first it will check the cd then you should see "caching session 1 of 2" watch it until the end..if all goes well DJ will kick out the game when it's done..
now put in a blank cd, close the tray, let the burner set, then hit ok....don't touch your comp until dj is finshed..if all goes well you should have a new copy of your copy, sometimes thoughdj will kick out saying "buffer under run"...try turnning of some other applications to free up ram and try again....make sure you have aspi32 as well.

the hp8100 and or 8200 had a problem with burning anything over 78 min., the burning process would stop there.
if the self booters that you are trying to copy are over 78min. , you will have problems then.
you need to get updated firmware in order to go above 78 min.
where you get it, i don't know. hp does not make its own burners, they get them from other manufacturers. so the firmware may be of another brand.
try to find out who actually made this drive and get that updated firmware
i hope that this helps.
i saw you tried my suggestion with ignore read errors, raw read/write.
i am not an expert at this but i try to help when i can.

also a common thing that gets over looked is in the advanced tab, make sure you set it to 80min to make image files or disk to disk back ups of dc games...
