How do I find out what version of the bios have I got? It dose comeup with xecuter underneath the blue X on loading .... do I need any special equipment to upgrade the bios if need be?

System utils, Settings, Bios - Kernal Version.

You can flash the bios via Evox flash bios option.

Cheers - I assume that the BIOS differ per chip ..... has cheap mod it's own or dose it use a generic one?

most chips come with legal bios, which u use to flash the chip yourself....for legal reasons of coarse. So, most poeple have the same bios on their chips.

Your bios are x-ecuter, but unknown version. This is ussually due to a color change or boot up change. And to upgrade the bios, all you need is evolutionX, and the bios you want to flash (i think cheapmods are 256k flashroms).
