View Full Version : I'm thinking about getting an X-ecuter 2.2 Lite Plus [+] modchip.

I'm new to X-box modding and haven't used or installed a modchip since the original Playstation.

I have a few questions.

Is it a simple process to back up your games on DVD and can a person just install a large harddrive to the X-box and copy your games to that? I've lost too many $50 DVD video game purchases to a hardwood floor....

Is the modchip I'm thinking of buying the best one available and where is the best place to get it?

Will the bios that comes preflashed on that modchip work with backedup games and games backed up on a new harddrive or do I need to reflash it somehow?

DVD+R or -R, does it matter?

you shouldnt need worrying about soldring, you can use pogo pins but they are tricky to align

as for copying game, it is different from the usually way they are backed up but after a few runs doing it, its very simple

the mod your on about will do the trick, although there are newer one on the market

if it comes with the cromwell bios all it will load is linux i believe, after it is installed you have to flash it again to get back ups runnning

either seems to run, although i believe dvd-r is more compatable

So its not a straight burn. How much different are we talking about?

So does that mean I need the Linux operating system? Flash it again:confused:, I'm confused.

u have to transfer the game from the xbox hd va ftp, after taht u can do the data burn or create an so and burn t, personally use so although many people here prefer data burn

as long as a bios works on the box thats all that betters, some of the latest chps such as xbt can hold up to 2mb bios'

the bios that comes with the chip will only boot images used to install linux, using flash ultilies such as oxflash you can put on newer bios which will boot back ups

Xbox reads both dvd+r and dvd-r. If you want, I can give you a link to a 4x dvd+-rw drive for around $200 USD. Which is a good deal.

Thanks but I already have a DVD+R drive so I think I'll try and settle with that for now atleast. I'm very sceptical about wether or not I have the knowlege to figure out how to transfer images then burn and to add more, flash that bios that clarky is talking about.
