Here's a question you have probably answered a gazillion times.

Is it enough to use Nero to back-up PS2 DVD games?

Select "Copy Entire Disk", and that's it? Or do I need codecs or whatever?

How about games on CD? And PC games?

I do not need to change regions.

Thanks in advance!

Yep, nero will back up ps2 cd and dvd based games.

Do not do an 'on the fly' copy. Make an Image first then burn the image back.

PC games tend to have more protection on them so u would probably need something a bit more powerful. Try ClonyXXl and CloneCD to back up PC Stuff

What you are saying is:

When using Nero, do NOT use 'Copy Entire Disc'
Instead, use 'Save Tracks to HD',
then use 'Disc image or saved project'

Am I correct in understanding this?

I thought when I used 'Copy Entire Disc', Nero actually first made a HD image, then burned it to the DVD, and finally erased the image.

When I make backups this way, everything appears to work fine, and Nero displays a message to the effect of successful completion.

I have not been able to test the back-ups yet because I don't have a modchip yet, only an external burner on loan, and am trying to make full use of it before I return it.

Someone also suggested RNM (or something) from Stomp as better than Nero.

Further comments and help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

What he is saying is not to make a direct burn from a dvd-rom (reader) to dvd writer. Always create a image file on the hd then burn from it.

Yes Stomp RecordNow max is more reliable than Nero. Nero will work just not quite as good as RNM. I use both programs but some games that won't back-up with Nero, will backup on RNM. (Atleast for me) Most forum members will swear on using RNM over any other program for DVD-based PS2 games. For CD games use either Alchol 120% or Clonecd.

Thanks to both of you.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I am STILL not clear. If I have only one DVD reader/writer, I should NOT 'Copy Entire Disc'?

What's happening Nov 5th?

COPY THE ENTIRE GAME.

But use your reader to make an image first then use your burner to burn to disc.
