anyone load up AR max successfully?

i've burned it successfully via alcohol 120. but when i load it up in my ps2 ver4, it directs me to the black default screen. rarely, will i get it to load up, but i usually will have to press the reset button, which concerns me that i might hurt my console if i repeatedly do this. i'm also wondering if my laser is going out. i'm loading my tdk dvd-r media with out no problems. it's my cd-r media that's giving me fits. i'm using the same ones that i've used since day one, but my last 3 cd-r backups are not loading up successfully. my cd-r media that i use are memorex cd-r black. also, i have a messiah 2 pro chip installed. any solutions? i appreciate it.

Hmm, does the AR Max need some sort of dongle?

yes, so far i'm using my regular ar dongle. now that you brought that up, i'm wondering if that's the problem.

Im not too familiar with AR because Ive only used GS. With GS (at least early GS) I was able to use just any old dongle. You may want to try using the dongle came with the appropriate AR.

How old is your ps2? Try putting it in the vertical position, if it isnt already.

my ps2 is about 4 years old but got modded this past spring. so placing it vertically could help me out?

if you're laser is struggling, yes placing it in a vertical position can help sometimes... that was the case with the original playstation too.

do you older cd-r backups still work or is it just the last three you've written? might be worth running a diagnostic on your burner too.

if you're laser is going, try burning with a different type of media. sometimes that can overcome the problem, but only temporarily until the laser starts getting worse.

if you can afford it try an flog your old v4 and get a newer model.

if your other older backups wont load either try running a cleaning disk through it

do older backups work or is it ar related only

reburn a cdr game if that loads then u know it ar2 related copy protection

Yeah probably. You would have to check your burners website though.
