This has probably been asked before, or maybe not, but since I've looked for a guide and haven't found one, I'd like to ask how to properly back up DC games.

I've tried it before, but when I insert a DC game into my CD-Rom drive, it shows a couple of Read-me files and that's about it. When I tried to make a 1:1 copy in Alcohol 120%, the whole CD was about 3 MB. I must be doing something wrong. ;)

Also, it seems that sounds and music must be down-sampled (is this the right word?) in order to get them to fit on to a 700MB CD. Any info on this is also appreciated.

Any help/comments are welcome.

Thanks a lot.

you cannot read a gdrom disk in a pc fully, you need to use a dreamcast linked to a pc by either a bba (broadband adapter) or a serial cable!

Oh my, lol, I've been mislead all this time. :/

Any tutorials on that?

And thanks for the clarification.

You're better off downloading games (that you own:)) from the net because ripping dc games is not as easy as it seems.

Not only that you need to buy either the broadband adapter or the serial cable (there are also tutorials on the net on how to build your own), but you need to learn how to downsample files and remove protections.

My advice is: read up on the echelon's selfboot tutorial, bin2boot. Practice selfbooting some already backed up non-boot dc games if you have any, or try the emulators and buy lots of blank cds ;)
