I have a question. I couple of video files I want to put onto a dvd-r to play in my dvd player. The problem is that the four files I have are about an hour each and I was planning on putting them onto one dvd-r if possible. Also I have a program that let's you turn mpegs and such into dvd-r but I was wondering if the files would be omre work-able in VOB form. If so then what program should I use to convert them?

Yeah feel free to convert them to DVD. If your files turn out to be too large, just use one of the many compressing devices to shrink your dvd files to fit on one DVD.

could you name some good shrinking programs for the files. I really want to keep as much of the quality as possible. It would also help with some other video projects I've been working on.
I always use dvdshrink (http://www.dvdshrink.org/#) great program

can you use dvd shrink to make mpeg files smaller to fit onto a dvd-r? I knew it could make a reg. dvd fit onto a dvd-r but it would really be cool if it could do that!

Nope you cant.
But if you did what you said and converted those MPEG files into vob dvd files then use DVDShrink or DVD2ONE to shrink them youll be all set.

Just use a program like Ulead DVD Movie Factory to turn those MPEGs into VOBs. If they are not compatible then you will have to use TMPEG to encode them to DVD requirements.

I also heard that there are ways of doing animated menus for dvds. If so what programs would I need? (i figure if I'm gonna make a dvd, I might as well make it as cool as possible)

Ok, if you want to put Animated Menus then get TMPEG DVD AUTHOR. Its basically like Ulead DVD Movie Factory but it allows for animated Menus.
