I am a newbie to copying DVD and need some assistance.

I have used both RecordNow Max and Primo to attempt to record a backup of Madden and Matrix DVD PS2 games. I get the prompt
that both games have been copied successfully as images in both the Primo and Record Now formats.

Problem is that when I put the disc in the PS2 I get the please insert a PlatStation or PS2 formatted disc.

I have a ton of backup PS1 games that the machine reads with no problem and it reads all originals fine.

I have a v8 machine with a Messiah 2 chip and I am using a Pioneer DVR A-05 to burn. The DVDs I am attempting to record on are Maxell -R DVD as well as a Memorex DVD-RW.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Maxell discs are rubbish and they will be your problem. -RW discs are never a good idea for PS2 - especially inferior ones.

Both Maxell and Memorex DVDR's are crap in my book. Ive tried them out on several ps2s with not much good luck.

@ lufcfan

Why do you keep saying RW's are bad. I noticed on my machine and several others that RW's seemed to read better and quieter than regular R media.

Simply because my experience has been an exact opposite to yours. My mates new V7 hates RW discs - loud, and poor read quality (especially VC) and the media was good too. I guess I put it down to what I have seen before just as you have here.

Interesting. I just thought that was curious when I apperently had never had any problems with that kind of media.

Tried a verbatim and Imation with the same results... Are these DVD-r trash as well....

Could there be something I am missing?

have you succesfully been able to play any ps2 dvd-r backup on this machine, because i think only the Messiah2 (fw1.30) and the DMS3v2 support dvd-r backups (ps2 games) on v8 machines, maybe your chip does not

I do not have any DVD backups to attempt to test...Also there was a typo in my original post as I have a V7 machine not a V8.

Thanks

The trouble with the Memorex and Maxell dvd-r's is that they are not compatable with Pioneer made DVD burner's. If you use them on a compatable burner they are fine. Such as an LG dvd burner. Just my 2 cents.
