I just couldn't wait for the release date last year and had a 15000 shipped in from Hong Kong ( dissed as expected 10000 )
Now hoping that there is a way to patch PAL games to work on Jap machine.
All feedback appreciated.

PS> Machine already chipped no know what model/make? BUt boots imported copies using swap trick with Orig data disk

I have the 15000. I chipped it here (with modchip.com v1 - removing the HK chip was didn't work) and use the utility disk as the boot disk. To make that work with PAL games, I use CDRWin to put the CD onto hard disk; I use Universal Patcher from Paradox to patch the gamne for use with the Utility Disk; then the game is burned back to CD-R. Presto, if there is no protection to fix as well, the game works.

Later modchip.com chips and NEO2.x chips use Action Replay as the boot disk and there you have to apply patches you would find classified for JAP booting at ####://www.sgt-dan.com or megagames.com. Now I'm out of my depth here as I don't know of anyone who has put NEO2.x on a 15000.

So what's your story? Is the 15000 already chipped?

Yeah already chipped and the copied games I got with it work/boot fine.
Most games I've had given don't work :-( except for a couple (SSX & Crazi Taxi) SO you think if I change the chip there should be no problem?
Tried copying a few back up disks today with CDRwin & Clone CD but getting errors @ the same % with each one, is this normal?

Cheers for help Charlie

From the info you've provided, you would need to use CDRWin and patch with Universal patcher. All unprotected games will play in my experience. EA games with protection are unplayable on the SCPH 15000 with this modchip system. I've got nothing to work with CloneCD on the 15000 because it does need the Uinversal Patcher to boot behid the Utility Disk.

If all CDs fail at the same % point when copying, and without knowing your circumstances, this looks like an expired demo copy or a cracked serial. If you're properly licnsed for CDRWin, then how compatible is your reader/burner?

Yes it is - but that shouldn't stop you making backups of PAL games and playing them on your Jap PS2.

The SBOX isn't one I know anything about - mine is an internal modchip from Modchip.com. I thought that SBOX was only for US/PAL PS2s. You say you use it - so you do boot with it and DVD Region X? EA Games will need patching with a USB based Modchip. Our friend DAL is a Forum expert on DVD Region X booting (I use the Jap Utility Disk) and possibly he'll come into this thread.

But back to your JAP SCPH 30000. This should really have a modchip.com internal modchip. The latest versions work with DVD RX, but I haven't implemented it preferring to stay with their beta chip and the Utility Boot Disk. I'm moving tomorrow to the ORIGACHIP (Madeira Games, +44 1485 570256) which allows import originals to be booted. The only snag for you is that the Jap 30000 appears not to be supported. But call Madeira Games and put the question directly to them.

well i don't realy know cuase i didn't opened it yet.
but i think it's wired inside and uses this usb sbox to lock the boot or something like this
the starnge thing is i just tried f1 which both pal and ea sports and it worked !!!!!!!!
but old ###ne games won't work at all
should it be the same method with the ps1 discs
and dvd rx ?

b.t.w the way , u have been great help ,
so 10x! :):):)

I hope DAL picks this up for ###ne games and DVDRX. What I do to play ###ne PAL backups is to boot with a JAP original ###ne game and swap the backup in. JAP originals can be bought in London (Computer Exchange).

Boys,

Were do i start........

The REGION X will allow you to boot your PS2 backups fine if you have a NEOKEY. But you will have to patch your EA Sports games to boot them, surgest using CDR-WIn to make a BIN file of the game and then patch using PPF O Matic then burn back to a CDR.

If your having problems booting backups what version of the REGION X do u have. Also u could give the guys you bought the NEOKEY from and ask them to go through the boot procedure with you.

When you say they dont boot what happens, what backups have u got and how did you make them are they PAL or NTSC???

Cheers

hi guys , hope i didn't scare u off
or dal is not as quick as charlie ?
well i got the ###ne part figured out
u have to boot only with the usb chip (neokey?) on and patch the games to ntsc/JAP then it works fine without dvd region X
but i steel can figure out why some of the games are black and white (ntsc ver?)

Charlie

The black and white bit is easy.

Either use a PS2 SCART (fully loaded) lead made by BLAZE available from HMV in the UK and presumably elsewhere in Europe (thanks to DAL for this advice). If not BLAZE then do what I do, buy a NTSC to PAL convertor that sits between the PS2 and the AV sockets of the PAL TV. Use it for NTSC games; remove it for PAL games.

Hey All,

Sorry for my late reply, been away all weekend.

you can tell if you have a USB mod becuase it will use one of the USB ports on your PS2. the NEOKEY and SBOX are exactly the same mod just have different names.

You may find that your have to add a PATCH to your Tekken BIN file, i know a few people have had problems booting this game with the USB mods.

Like charlie says get one of the BLAZE leads i have bloody excellent and great quality on the screen.

Cheers

so that not it cuase i have a multisystem t.v. i see ntsc dvd movie no problem and another backup is working just fine ......
must be the patch
with what do u recomend to patch ?

Charlie

The best patcher is, in my opinion, ppf-o-matic because it verifies that the BIN file is correct for the patch. But I'm puzzled. If it was a 50Hz/60Hz thing, you'd get jitter. If it's just NTSC, well that comes out of the PS2 and if your multiregion TV is properly set up, it should play. But remember that NTSC-J is not the same as NTSC-US.

You probably need to convert the signal to AV using the fully loaded SCART lead. Also, borrow a PAL only TV and see what happens.

well on a pal t.v. what happenes is , the all console plays B&W
including the PS logo and the booting sequence
with the backup on a muliregion t.v.
the logo is in color and the game itself is B&W
i will try to patch it agian .....
b.t.w the ntsc j could be it a thought about it but i don't know how to check it out .

every one has to come out with a diffrent display system don't they :) ?
