View Full Version : When i want to Back-Up one of my games.
When i want to back up one of my games and play on my modded box is all i have to do is, Up it to my computer, burn it to a DVD and play? I ask becuase i dont wanna buy a DVD burner if this isnt the case.
yep thats about the jist of it.
i would recomend you read the sticky labled DATA BURN METHOD WITH SCREEN SHOTS also before you burn the disc you will need to patch newer games using a tool called isocraxtion.
its relativally error proof though right?

evox does not have a .exe it has a file called default.xbe. you remane this xboxdash.xbe. and transfere it to the xbox it also a.ini file you need to set this to some thing like mine below. note you must have the statick ip set to yes. here's mine as a example.

So i need an FTP for this? and where do i get a statick ip, i apologize im very script and term iliterate but i know some of the stuff just not the terms.
EDIT: Heh, ive started reading random tutorials and im starting to get the idea, just one question though, how much in the end will this cost and how long does it take to set up?
dvd burner preferabley - r format £100/£150 roughley
pc nic card £10.00 from pc world or any good pc store
pc network crossover cable £5.00
and of course a chipped xbox.
ftp programme prices differ but you can get realy good ftp programmes for free if you look.
it's pretty easy to set up the network. once you have all the kit post back

whats the PC nic card do, and is the cross over cable one of those home makes?
im actually looking to get another XBOX with a newer chip and a newer HD so until i get that kind of money...
a nic card is basically a network card and you must specifically have a crossover cable not a standard network cable. best to ask instore if you'r unsure
Ok i see where can i get the crossover cable though?
EDIT: would an "Ultra 4x4x12x DVD+RW Burner, 16x10x32x CD-RW" be ok in terms of burning DVDs, Back-ups, and such?
you can get a crossover cable from any good electronics store. as for dvd+rw hmmm i have used these in the past with poor results i strongley recomend you go for a dvd-r format burner a very good make would be
pioneer a04 x2 speed writer or a05 x4 speed writer or a06 x4 speed writer
-r/rw is by far the most compatible format for xbox ps2 dvd movies etc also has cheaper media that the +r/rw format.
The only thing is, will that cost around 100$? Becuase thats what i am going for.
EDIT: "PIONEER INTERNAL ATAPI (Black Bezel) DVD-RECORDABLE MODEL DVR-105BK-OEM, BARE DRIVE ONLY "
would that be ok?

if you can get a Pioneer 105 for $100 you should buy it for sure
its about 160$ so are you saying i should?

Well you said $100 which would be an excellent price on it no matter what you used it for.
As for that particular drive, I have an A04 which is the previous model and it works just fine so I would recommend the A05 too.
so yes?
