I've tried to get my overaged HP8100 to write 800MB+ files, by installing the HP CD-Writer+ 8100 1.0n (HACKED) Firmware, but it's not working and my first guess was that it's because i''m running XP...

Anybody any ideas what to do?

Sorry 'bout that, what i ment to say was that the installer for the 1.0n (hacked) firmware isn't working (probably because of XP)....

cheers, cornfleek

Erm.... im not sure what has gone wrong but because the firmware is hacked and not an official firmware it might of disrupted your cd writer rendering it useless i dont know if its xp doing it i think you should contact hp or try reinstalling the firmware or download a new one from the hp site

I hope this helps

Cheers,

it's not the cd-writer that isn't working, it's the firmware that won't install for some reason (it says it can't find the writer). Since the writer is ancient, and the firmware aint working, i've decided to get myself a new and proper one which burns more then 700 mb.. :-)

thanks, Cornfleek
