Im going to attempt to get into the PS2 Modding Scene or whatever. I attempted to Mod my PS2 back in the early days but something went wrong and the chip didnt work or something. They gave crappy directions and whatnot though. The system worked for a while without the mod chip working then died on me.
so now its like 2 years later and want to try again. ill probaly get it sdone by someone if someone can let me know of someone who does it.
But im thinking of getting that DVD Burner. WIll it allow me to Burn PS2 games as well As DVD Movies?
And what exactly is the difference between +R And -R Thanks a lot
The difference between +R and -R is complex, technical, and mostly moot.
Older PS2's will OFTEN (not always) read -R, and SOME of them will read +R. My v4 (GT3 edition) reads +R just fine.
v5 and newer units should read both -R and +R just fine.
Older units (v1-v3) are a crapshoot no matter what, due to their lousy lasers.
---------------
That said, IF your unit plays +R, then the NEC is a fine burner. I have the Plextor version and am very very happy with it.

play it safe and get a minus burner, and as far as modding, where are you at?
Yeah, it's a toss-up whether that one will read +R or not. My v4 does, but many do not.
If you want to play it safe, get a -R burner, they're cheaper anyway. ;)

so all -R burners will work? what do you guys reccommend for under $200?
Im in NJ. You guys know anywhere?
Anywhere... to get your PS2 modded? Or to get a burner?
If you want a burner, Cendyne has -R's on special at Officemax and Staples on an "every other week" basis for well under $200.
As for getting your PS2 modded, I have sadly moved out of your area (only a couple weeks ago!) so I don't really know where else to get it done. ;)

i was looking at the Pioneer version of the 105.
http://avlogic.com/product.cgi?code=11121756
Is there any place i can send it to do it? like a web site or anyhing? and it sucks you moved man or id just let you do it!
The Pioneer 105 is the same drive as the Cendyne 105. The cendyne shows up as a pioneer in windows. If you really did want to play it safe get a dual format burner like the Sony DRU500 or DRU-500AX.

i dont have that much money lol
Yes, there are websites where you can send it. Some of them come very highly recommended, but we can't talk about it in open forum, due to new rules. :)
I think it's not unfair to think that if you asked nicely, someone might PM you. ;)

they have better prices then the bill guy. They any good?
I'm not here to discuss "better" prices......
You can pick what you like......
I ONLY rec. people I TRUST!!!!!! and who I have PERSONALLY dealt with.....
I would prefer to PAY more and KNOW who I'm dealing with....
Don't get me wrong.. I have heard some good things about who you rec. BUT since I have never dealt with them, I would rather pay a little MORE........ If for no other reason than the TRUST part of it.......
Same reason I buy my Riteks from a guy.. I pay more buying from him but I KNOW what i'm getting....
