I’ve been thinking about modding my PS2. I have a stealth chip in my PSX so I never had to worry about DVD based games. I have a couple of questions about backing up games. I only own CD-RW drives (no DVD burner). About what percentage of games are CD based and how many are DVD based? Would it be something I really don’t have worry about?

Blue bottomed disks are regular CDs right? And the silver are DVD? Vice versa?
Also are most of the newer games coming out in DVD form or just the ones that need 700mb+?

Is there anyplace that has a list of CD and a separate list of DVD?

Thanks a lot for any help…

Yes, the blue bottoms (or purple) are CD games and silver is DVD. I thought that all of the new games coming out were going to be DVD, but I was wrong, The Sims is a rather new game and it's on CD. Okage: Shadow King is another CD based game, although it's an RPG (from a few years backs), there's no video sequences and no voice.

Instead of settling for CD based games, I'd just get a DVD burner so that you can REALLY enjoy PS2 games.
