Hope this information is useful to someone.
Recently I attempted to use "DVD Shrink" v.1.03 to copy a short movie DVD. The original DVD had a half inch scratch about 1/4 inch from the outer edge of the disc and in the general direction of the data tracks.
"DVD Shrink" was unable to copy the disc and reported the problem as a "CRC Error."
I then attempted a copy of the same original DVD with "DVD X Copy" v.1.4.1 which had no trouble in reading the original DVD and making an exact duplicate.
While it is hard to beat the price of "DVD Shrink" compared to the $99 price tag for "DVD X Copy," this experience suggests that the latter might have a more robust read algorithm.
