Hei,

I am trying to make a working copy of Championship Manager 01/02. Problem is that I am unable to determin what kind of copy protectin has been used.

Clony raports ProtectCD VOB, CloneCD Database raports SecureROM v2 + Dummy Files, PCCB 1.5.66 raports Dummy files.

I have used Hex viewer to view .EXE file an searched for both VOB an CMS withouth any luck. VOB should indicate that the protection is ProtectCD, CMS should indicate SecureROM.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Best Regards

In the end mate, it doesn't matter too much as long as your burner does 2 things...

1. Encode EFM correctly (for sd2)
2. Read and write 96 subchannel + DAO RAW (for securom2 and VOB CD)

Then you can burn anything.

Post ya burner make and model...

Hei,

Thanks for answer. Burner is NOT SD2 compatible. (HP 9100i), on the other hand I am quite well equiped for Subchannel data + RAW DAO. I have Toshiba XM-6702B.

I have a friend with the nye Plextor 2410A, so SD2 is not a problem either.

I am just qurius abouth this protection.

Best regartds

Hi mate.

Thankfully you seemed equipped to copy, at least!

If you're interested which protection it is, from the top of my head, you can do the following..

VOB-ProtectCD.... use PROCDump or LordPE/PEditor to examine the sections of the PE file (i.e. the loader). There will be sections all called .vob

Securom2..... use Filemon to monitor which windows dll's are called by the loader. For securom2 they will be sintf16.dll, sintf32.dll (ClonyXL checks this for you as long as the game is installed, so I'd hazard a guess your cd ain't securom2)

Dummy files....usually large files on the cd (>650Mb if memory serves) and may have an .AFP extension.

Hope this helps (and is accurate!! My memory ain't what it used to be!)
