Hi, I have a dvd x copy on my system. I used it for about 15 of my dvd's to create backups. They worked great. But all of the sudden, the next 6-7 dvds I've backed up all have lines, boxes, (noise) in them so they don't play right or even at all. I didn't change anything. I loved the software, it costed me $99 at Compusa, but when it messed up, I thought, maybe my dvd-rom or dvd burner needed cleaning, so I bought a cleaner and cleaned them. That didn't work! So I bought a new dvd-rom and dvd burner , and that too didn't work. Any help on getting back to burning great dvd backups would greatly be appreciated. Compusa won't give money back for opened software, only exchange it for the same thing. And I can't get any answers from 321 studios. I stuck on this one, Please help!!! Thanks.

What version dvdxcopy you using? You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling too.

I've tried that. I was using version 1.2, then I changed to version, now I've updated to 1.5, still getting the lines and scrambled boxes. Can't get past the start menu on the dvd's cause I can't make out what any of them are.

What media are you using? Try a different brand and see if the same thing happens.

I did. I was using samsung. Since, I've tried pioneer and verbatim. All of which are supposed to work with my pioneer.

Have you tried playing these backups on your pc? Do they work ok then?

I just unistalled it, and reinstalled vers. 1.2, and tried backing up "Smokey and the Bandit". The universal sign at the beginning looked and sounded perfect. When the movie starts, the picture looks as if it's made up of hundreds of boxes and they are all mixed up so you can't see a clear picture. The samsung dvd-r's worked before, cuz I did about 12-15 dvds with it. But now there has to be some type of problem with the software or a compatibility issue. I need to find out what it is.

Give 1.4.1 a try. You can get it here (ftp://ftp1.dvdxcopy.com/DVDXCopy_v1.4.1_full_install.exe). Try using some of the different burn options such as internal burning rom, nero, and nero udf. And if you are using a dvd rom for reading your disc try having your burner do the reading.

The V1.4.1 you reference in the above posting: Is that a full install or an upgrade?

Thank you,

LGS

Full install. It is best to uninstall your previous version first.

I uninstalled it, and tried to download it. Wouldn't download, and Ihave dsl. So I reloaded it again and still isn't working. I'm operating on a amd xp 2200 chip, asus motherboard,512 mb ddr 400 and 200 gig Hd space. There shouldn't be any conflict at all. Is there anybody at all that can tell me what would cause those boxes and how to get rid of them.

Are you multitasking or downloading anything while burning? Have you tried closing everything then burning? Sounds like you got a messed up pc if you can't download that....
