hello :)
my ps2 is chipped with a PnP no solder mod it is paired with the magic swap disk, they both work well, but they dont work with original imported dvd9 games (thats like 1% of all ps2 games and it happenes to be the one i want :P).
The game i have is xenosaga it is an original US import, but i need to get it to work with my R Key (the no solder chip) does n e one know anyways?
the only way i can think of is to copy xenosaga onto a dvd-r disk and then boot it as a back up rather than an import on a dvd9. As i don't have much acess to a dvd writer ( i'm near one once a month :P)my next window is in 10 days, i just wanna know if this will work or other alternatives ;) thnx everyone

Don't know if it'll work for sure, but you can try a GameShark2 or ActionReplay2 instead of the swap magic discs.
U can't just copy it onto a dvd-r direct but there is a rip by Kalisto that will rip it onto one dvd-r and that might boot better but I ain't makin no guarantees.
Best solution. Ditch current mod and get messiah 2.

why would it not work? it would be just like making the exact game but without the PAL/NTSC code right?
so i copy the cd add the patch then burn it?
plus i have 2 ps2's the broken 1 with the messiah and the ok 1 with the pnp key.
i dont know what is up with the broken one it used to work then slowly it took more resets to make the games boot now everytime i try any game it just comes up with plz enter a ps2 formatte game.
okay, as I said, the rip should probably work okay.
As 4 busted PS2. Maybe I can help.
Wot version is it?
Test it with an original PS2 CD,PS2 DVD,PS1CD,DVD Movie
PS2 CDR Backup,PS2 DVDR Backup,PS1 CDR Backup,DVDR Movie backup.
Post the results and we see if we can't sort it!!

UrrBodyH8sMe hiya,
the problem with that is that im a PAL console and its a NTSC game, zenosaga isn't coming out in england, i also just checked the size of the game and it says it's a 3.93GB game so once again why would there be a prob ripping?
ottoman,
its a version 1 and all types of dvd don't work back-ups, imports ,rips, original pals, and movies all i get is a whirling sound then a click. then it goes to the red screen, this happened very gradually (as in it would only not work a little, then more , then never).
oooo abd before i make this mistake again :P, how can u tell what games are dvd9's :P
thnx soooooooooo much for all your help :D
chris
Actual file size of Xnosaga is over 8 gig. You can tell DVD9 games by the barcode on the inner ring on the reflective side of disc. DVD games have 1 bar code DVD9 games have 2.

These guys are correct........ Xenosaga is WELL over the 3.93gb that you are seeing...... I assume that you are in windows explorer and are right clicking on the disc and choosing properties.... This will give you false info.....
Take the disc and open it using DVD Decrypter or RecordNow Max. Then you will see that it is actually around the 8 gig size... Thus it cannot be copied directly to a dvd-r....

o i thought had the one made for ur country only other way is to rip the game im not sure how u do pal 2 nstc or other way around i still need the rip kit for the game no one knows were to get it
I heard that on the rip of Xenosaga they had lowered the quality of the movie sequences to make them smaller and therefore to fit onto a dvd-r.
As for broken PS2, as it was working and just got worse it sounds like a laser problem but with a duff laser u don't usually get red screen, just a messsage saying read error, unless ur laser has degraded to the point of not even being able to recognise a ps2 CD/DVD.
As it is a version 1 then it might be better just to leave it in the grave, alternatively if u r confident u could get a new laser for it and then sell it on but I wouldn't bother keeping hold of it. Might be worth transplanting the messiah out of it and into ur other console though!!

will he supply the chip as well?
and also how much ya rekon it costs :P
I heard that we are no longer to suggest modchip dealers in the forum by name. Do a search and you will find out who to go to in your area. They offer the best of both cost and quality.
