hi!.....

anyone ever used the universal dvd-r for ps2 game back-ups?..

there's a site claiming that after pioneer it's 100% compatible with ps2..

is this true?

all dvd-r are compatible with PS2. That doesn't mean tha games will read well from the dvd-r.

If the dvd-r's use ritek dye ( dark purple and usually stated somewhere in the ad) then they should be fine but it's always best to err on the side of caution and go for tried and tested ( Traxdata,Ritek dark purple, dvdmaster etc).

Alternatively u can be the guinea pig and give these a go.

If u get some try backing up 'The getaway', GTAVice City, Timesplitters 2 and Max Payne.

If these work without freezing and take the same time to load up as the originals then the dvd-r's should be fine to use.

It's also worth noting that some cheap dvd-r degrade over time so what might appear to be a perfect back-up initially might not even boot after a few months.

Good Luck!!! Let us know what happens

a few months lol
i can remember the early dvdr days when dvdr would work, within a week or 2 the kids would be saying they not booting

this was with old v4 plus early dvd-r offerings

most dvd-r is alot more stable now

but still stick to the well known tested brands to be safe

i do i even get bg to get mine from usa so i get exact ones i want and at right price
