I cant play GT3 and Devil may cry in my jap PS2.
I have the 10000 with modchip for swap Trick with utility 1.00
I think i will open it and try 2 adjusting the lens.
Can play any Back ups from original cd-roms.
But cd-roms from Rip DVD games can play only 1 from 5.

As you may know I have the SCPH 15000 modified as per yours but with the 1.01 Utility Disk. I wouldn't go so far as adjusting the lens unless CD-R backups fail to play. You could end up in a mess.

I've got JAP GT3 Original and will find the time to do a DVD Rip during 3rd week October. I tried over the last weekend to mess around with a combination of the GT3PALEASY rip method and my JAP GT3 original. It didn't work. SO I'll need to go back to first principles and that will be time consuming.

The most usual cause of failure in ripped DVD games is that all DVD checks need to be stripped away. Were you in control of this process?

In the meantime, in case I might be able to help you further I'd like to ask you a couple of questions:

1 Are the ripped DVDs that work from PAL or NTSC (Jap or US?) originals?

2 Did you have to patch the CDs produced from the ripping process?

3 What, if anything, do you have to patch with Universal Patcher?

As for the DVD checks, I dont have a idea how to do that.sorry man.

-the ripped DVDs that work, mostly are pal and some usa and i didnt rip them my self.
-I m from Greece, so the most games of them here are pal and some usa backups.
-yes, I apply them first the static universal patcher or ps2 universal patcher of paradox and then I burn them.

Charlie i had wrote some days ago in this forum informations about GT3. Maybe would you like to see them and maybe they ll be helpfull more for you, cause i stop i couldnt understand nothing.

I have a japanese chipped swap trick PS2 system (SCPH-10000)

I learned that I had to patch the most of the games to play in my machine with STATIC Universal or PS2Patcher of paradox, and you apply them while you make the game (.Bin)file with CDR-Win.

So i did it and every game was available until i buy the best game of PS2 :) the backup of GT3(usa).
I patched, I burn it and after that I put it in PS2 with swap trick.
And after the "start" of kalisto screen stack :(

I spended a lot of time, and im still spending searching for a solution for this problem. I heared a lot of opinions like....

- PS2 japanese cant play(not read-play) 80min backup cds.
I mean that 6min more, 50mb, if this space of cd, is with data from the game, that happend. And GT3 is somewhere 690mb.
- japaneze backup GT3 play normal in JAP systems.
- There is a new patch a kind.

In my opinion must be the first(80cds) or something else and i prove it.

I downloaded the GT3 DVD Tutorial http://www.sgt-dan.com/ (Above\Download\Tutorials) and apply it in backup of GT3(usa).
First i copy the game into c:\GT3
Then into c:\GT3. I extracted the (GT3.vol) with GT3F###tract.exe from http://www.sgt-dan.com/ (Above\Downloads\utilities)

After awhile a file named extract had came with capacity somewhere 2giga.

- Go into the folder called cars. Here delete all the files that are in the folder EVE and Night.
- Go into the folder called Courses. Here, delete the files in the folders, EU, UK, US. Live just JP (I supost must be from word japanese)
- Now go into the Menu folder. Here, delete the files in the folders that aren’t your language. E.g. IT = Italy SP = Spain GR = German BR = ( I don’t know)
FR = French, and JP = Japan. (Just live US).
- Then go in BGM directory and delete them all.

ok.now the extract file is under 650mb.
now we rebuild the VOL file. Go back into the temp dir you created, and run the GTFS rebuilder from http://www.sgt-dan.com/ (Above\downloads\utilities)

When you have your new file created, it is called GT3.VOL.new
Delete the older.
Thats it.
First burn it like it is. Then patch it. Then burn it again (I know u spent 2cds if u dont have cdr-w).

Now youre going to ask me for what is this all for.
And im going to answer you the half GT3.
I mean there is the menu.
There is the cars
There is the courses
There is everything, except the driving game.
when the stage going to start, it stack again.
What are we making to play GT3.
I believe the solution is somewhere here.
If you have the pation to make until here and u done it.
please post it.
Or any other opinions, informations, sugestions, anything.

The best I can do for you (unless anyone else can help in the meantime) is to let you know the results of my rip of the JAP GT3 during the third week of October. I've meant to do this for some time now.

I note from your repeat data that you purchased a backup of GT3 (USA). How do you know where it works?

Anyway, I'll let you know how I get on.
