View Full Version : Securom protection
I'm trying to copy a copy itself of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, that reads fine in any cd-rom (1:1 copy) using Clonecd, I'm using an LG GCE 8160b 16x, and check both Read Subchannel data from data and audio tracks. The resulting copy reads fine in my CD-ROM drive (LG 52x), but will not pass the game protection in my DVD-ROM drive (pioneer 6x), and the dreaded "insert the original CD" message pops up. Nonetheless it reads fine the directory structure, it is not a readibility problem with the media (verbatim 16x certified). The funny thing is, the source copy plays fine in both drives, what could be the problem?
Could be that your DVD-ROM can read the ATIP of a cdr. This is a check used by securom2 to see if an original or copied cdr is being used. If you want to see if your DVD can indeed check the ATIP, then download an ATIP checker from cdmediaworld above. If your drive checks it, then you won't be able to run from cdr's in that drive, of securom2 (and newer versions of safedisc2) titles.
The "readability" of directories on the cd is not an issue. Securom2 uses sub-channel data (as you semm to know) so a copy with all the right files on, but no sub-channel data, still won't work. You have already said that it works fine in your cdrom, so you know the copy is perfect!
